We are all sinners. ...Cheryl - one other thought. We are all sinners. Your sins may have included disobeying your parents and complaining about bedtime, where as someone saved later lied, gossiped, slandered, and cheated on his taxes. To God, however, we have all turned away from Him and are guilty of death.

We are closer to the wickedest murderer than we are to the perfect example of Jesus. The enormity of the fact that we were born as enemies of God by our own rebellion, choosing to set ourselves us as the thing to be worshiped, put us against God.

I have to just praise God for my "boring" testimony. It is only by His grace that He rescued me from darkness into light. And it is an answer to my parent's prayers as well.

For everything good I've ever done, He created me with a purpose, He gave me the abilities, He gave me the opportunity, and He empowered me to do it! All the praise and Glory goes to Him.BeckyEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11181670255360575340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6130643938140591316.post-880235010386099602011-01-17T23:04:21.172-05:002011-01-17T23:04:21.172-05:00Cheryl, you ask a wonderful question. I spoke with one of my childhood pastors tonight about it, and he had some encouraging words:

“Who knows the heart of a youngster better than the Lord. I believe we treat them as though they know the Lord if they say they do, unless there are no signs of the Light of the Lord being in them, and then we proceed from there. But I would never assume it hadn't ‘taken’ or wasn't true just because of their age.”

That being said, consider some of the other younger children in the Bible who clearly were following after God. Kids like David, Josiah, Samuel, and Mary. We are told to have faith like a child, and Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to “such as these.”

Overall, I think that time will show the fruit of any believer’s new life in Christ, and the process of sanctification is a long road.

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Thess 5:23BeckyEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11181670255360575340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6130643938140591316.post-15104575537220479702011-01-17T13:03:34.214-05:002011-01-17T13:03:34.214-05:00Wow, Becky, this is excellent. Sometimes it's tough though because those saved later in life can talk about the changes in their life and sometimes I feel they don't give my testimony as much credit because God didn't save me from a life of obvious sin as a 4 year old. Some often talk about how you should KNOW you are different from before you were saved, but growing up with Him doesn't give me a lot to say about before/after. I know I'm saved and am different than I would have become, but not that much different prior to converting. Do you have a good response to those people who seem to question childhood conversions?Cheryl Ruetznoreply@blogger.com
